Students Bring Their ‘A’ Game to Pablo Torre Sports Reporter Challenge
8/10/2015

Pablo Torre, Senior Writer at ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com, visited Malvern Prep on March 23, 2015 as a continuation of our Distinguished Speaker Series for the 2014-15 school year. Six Malvern Prep students competed in a mock sports reporter event hosted by Head of School Mr. Christian Talbot, to prepare for the live roundtable discussion with Pablo Torre on March 23.

From those six students, three were chosen to participate in the roundtable discussion with Pablo Torre in front of a live audience. The students were asked various questions about athletes and morality. For example, students were asked: Should college athletes be paid? Please factor in diversity to the discussion regarding demographics of athletes, both racial and socioeconomic. Students were given time to research and prepare their facts for the roundtable discussion. The finalists were invited to sit and chat with Pablo Torre before his presentation. See more photos

Platon Photo Challenge Sparks Creativity Among Students and Faculty
8/10/2015

World-renowned photographer, Platon spoke at Malvern Prep on October 30, 2014 as part of our Distinguished Speaker Series. In preparation for Platon’s visit, students, faculty and staff were invited to participate in the Platon Photo Challenge.

This was an opportunity for members of the Malvern Community to showcase two of their original photos. The first photo had to symbolize Malvern; it could demonstrate brotherhood, service, student-centered learning, athletics, arts, etc. The second photo was something that had special meaning to them beyond the photo. A total of 17 students, both middle and high school students and 7 faculty members participated in the Platon Photo Challenge. A team of judges spoke with each entrant and selected the top photo from each group. The winners were: Colleen Lewis, faculty; Champ Doyle ’20, Middle School; and Cullen Robinson ’17, Upper School. The winners were invited to have dinner with Platon prior to his presentation at Malvern Prep. View the winner's photos
