Malvern Prep is blessed to have so many volunteers and benefactors who give their time, talent and/or treasure to the School each year. The School offers numerous opportunities which members of the Malvern family can support or get involved to fulfill their own unique interests.

Matching Gifts
Many employers match contributions made to charitable organizations. Please inquire of your employer if there is a corporate matching gift program in place. Often a spouse's employer will also match personal contributions through a corporate matching gift program. In most cases, you will need to fill out a company form and enclose it with your gift. Many companies offer on-line matching forms, available on the company website.

Gifts-in-Kind
Malvern welcomes gifts of needed goods and services, such as auction items for B.A.S.H., computers, musical instruments, printing services. To obtain a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value of the property given, federal tax laws require:

  • you to acquire an independent qualified appraisal for gifts worth $5,000 or more.
  • the use of your gift is related to Malvern’s educational mission.

All gifts require the approval of the Director of Development. Please contact the Development Office for further information at 484-595-1110.

Gifts of Time and Talent
There are many volunteer opportunities that give you a chance to assist the School, get to better know Malvern and meet and befriend other parents. Malvern has both an active Mothers’ Club and Fathers’ Club. These organizations encourage participation by all parents and help promote the family atmosphere at Malvern Prep. The Fathers’ Club sponsors the annual Father/Son Banquet, the Father/Son Golf Outing, and the Mothers’ Club hosts the Christmas Tea, the Mother/Son Communion Breakfast, the Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon, the Graduation Reception, and the Eighth Grade Advancement Reception. Both groups lend their support to the Headmasters’ Reception and the School’s annual dinner auction called B.A.S.H. (Building A Scholastic Heritage).

Memorial Gifts
Unless otherwise designated, memorial donations will go to the Augustinian Scholars Fund. Please include the name of the person in whose memory the donation is being made and the name and address of a family member. All donations will be acknowledged in the Annual Report and a list of donors will be provided to the family upon request. Please contact the Development Office or 484-595-1110 for more information. Checks should be made payable to Malvern Preparatory School and mailed to:

PA Tax Credit: EITC/OSTC
If your company pays taxes in Pennsylvania, you may be able to direct your tax payment to the Malvern Prep Scholarship Fund, provide tuition assistance to deserving students and receive a substantial tax credit in return.

Your business is eligible to participate if it is authorized to do business in Pennsylvania and is subject to one or more of the following taxes:

  • Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax
  • Capital Stock and Franchise Tax
  • Corporate Net Income Tax
  • Insurance Premiums Tax
  • Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax
  • Personal Income Tax of corporation shareholders or Partnership partners

Tax credits equal to 75% of your contribution, up to a maximum of $300,000 per taxable year of EITC, and $400,000 per taxable year for OSTC, can be utilized. This can be increased to 90% of your contribution if your business agrees to provide the same amount for two consecutive tax years.

Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program

The EITC, approved by the Pennsylvania State Legislature in 2001, allows tax credits for companies that contribute to scholarship organizations.

  • Click on the Funding & Programs tab located at the top of the page.
  • Click on the Apply for Funding box.

Once the State approves the request, the contribution must be made directly to Malvern Prep within 60 days.  Malvern will send you a formal acknowledgment letter for your files.

Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) Program

The OSTC provides tax credits to eligible businesses contributing to an Opportunity Scholarship Organization (OSO). The contributions are used by the OSO to provide tuition assistance scholarships to eligible students residing within the boundaries of a low-achieving school district to attend another nonpublic or public school outside of their district.
